The Importance of Quality Management Systems

Modine’s dedication to providing our customers with the best quality products is evident in everything we do. To accomplish this, we make every effort within our internal processes to uphold the highest quality standards.

Quality is a part of all aspects of our business, and we accomplish this by instituting a quality management system (QMS) . For those unfamiliar with a quality management system, it is a formalized process that documents processes, procedures, and responsibilities for achieving customer satisfaction and continuous improvement. Our quality management system is designed to best suit our customers and regulatory requirements and continuously improve effectiveness and efficiency . To reinforce our quality system, we conduct audits on a regular basis to ensure we uphold the quality standards we have defined and to seek out improvement opportunities.

All EVantage thermal management systems are developed and integrated into our customers’ vehicles with our rigorous quality management systems’ processes and procedures at every stage. The cornerstone of our quality management system is the internationally recognized ISO 9001. This standard, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), sets the criteria to meet, establish, maintain, and continually optimize to enhance our quality management systems. This standard enables us to develop the architecture necessary to ensure the highest quality in all our products, right down to the component level, providing our stakeholders with the confidence of global recognition.

In addition to ISO 9001, we are compliant with IATF 16949. IATF 16949 is the international automotive task force quality management standard for the automotive industry. This standard has automotive-specific requirements that emphasize meeting customer-specific requirements,. It supports continuous improvement, ensuring that every facet of our operations is aligned with the automotive OEM, further reinforcing our dedication to meeting customers’ needs.

The following standards have been tested and tried to ensure optimal performance and quality:

  • ISO 26262 is a standard focused on functional safety to ensure an electrical and electronic system’s behavior to inputs does not cause any potential harm. This standard emphasizes a safety lifecycle including all facets of the development process – from conception to decommissioning. This standard conducts a risk assessment to identify potential hazards and associated risks through analysis, processes, and procedures. Automotive Safety Integrity Levels (ASIL) classify safety risks associated with specific functions representing the highest level of security.
  • ISO 21434 is a standard emphasizing a comprehensive approach to automotive cybersecurity, covering all phases from concept and design to production, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning. Our adherence to these guidelines ensures a consistent focus on cybersecurity throughout the entire lifecycle of our EVantage products, enhancing their resilience and reliability. Central to ISO 21434 is the rigorous process of risk assessment and management. This framework enables Modine to systematically identify, analyze, and mitigate cybersecurity risks, ensuring the development of EVantage products that are secure and robust against emerging cyber threats.
  • ISO 16750 is a standard that sets the benchmark for environmental conditions and electrical and electronic equipment testing. Some critical areas tested through this standard are electrical loads, temperature and humidity conditions, and mechanical and chemical loads.  To ensure EVantage thermal management systems and components have the utmost mechanical and electrical integrity, we go through this process for every product in our portfolio down to the component level.

These are a few of the many standards that ensure the integrity and quality of our processes and products. Our customers are assured that Modine EVantage Thermal Management Systems is held accountable for each step of the quality management systems’ process and each testing standard protocol. EVantage thermal systems meets our customers’ specifications and requirements to ensure the best product for their vehicles.
